Working with transgender women on a daily basis, I know secondhand the pain of not being able to grow hair like most cis girls. That's why, when I was researching some remedies, I was intrigued by a study published on my favorite website (aside from this one) on the use of peppermint oil to increase hair growth in mice...but aren't we all just carbon life forms?
The 2014 study compared topical application of saline, jojoba oil, minoxidil, and peppermint oil (diluted in jojoba oil as a carrier) on the shaved backs of mince. The findings? After four weeks it was shown that peppermint oil provided a significant increase in dermal thickness, follicle number, and follicle depth. Better than any other group. That's right. Peppermint oil worked better than minoxidil in growing hair, producing a more rapid anagen stage of growth (that's the active growing stage). More hairs. Thicker hairs. Deeper hairs. From rubbing a mix of peppermint and jojoba oils onto their shaved skin.

While I hate the smell and taste of mint in all it's many forms, I just might learn to love it. So, I'm off to PCC to begin what just might be a beautiful affair between peppermint oil, my brows and scalp.
PS Be careful not to get peppermint (or any essential oil) in your eye. If you do, dilute it with carrier oil, not water. And never, ever, ever use it as a growth serum for eyelashes. Never.
